For almost 20 years, Canoe Toronto has been offering activities for ESL student groups on the Toronto Islands. The passion for the outdoors and a healthy life style has been helping us to grow and improve our services. Ranging from simple tours with picnics and BBQs, to overnight camping and canoe tours with campfire and marshmallows, our programs are the must to do for visitors to Toronto and the Islands Park. Our canoe outings are designed for people who don’t have any previous experience or very beginner. Our professional instructors give detailed explanation on paddling and safety and they are in the canoe with the customers throughout the entire excursion.
A True Canadian Experience
If you visit Canada, paddling a canoe should be in your bucket list as something very Canadian to do. By the way, canoe has been named the 7th wonder of Canada. Conveniently located right in the downtown of the biggest Canadian city, the Toronto Islands Park offers a great opportunity to try canoeing in a safe and comfortable environment. The islands could be reached by ferry or water taxi in just 7 minutes from the Toronto Harbourfront.
Canoe Taxi Project
The idea behind this project, was to connect heritage with nature. A canoe has been playing an important role in the lives of North America inhabitants since the early days. Today, canoes are widely used across Canada for recreational purposes. Recently, a canoe has been named one of the Seven Wonders of Canada. We came up with an idea of using a canoe to link the busy streets of the biggest Canadian metropolis with a a nature paradise - the Toronto Islands - and to call this service a Canoe Taxi. A large Voyageur Canoe , that was used during the Fur Trade Era for trade and goods transportation, is now at a service to transport tourists and visitors to the Toronto Islands archipelago. With its extensive network of lagoons and waterways, the islands provide an excellent set up for a recreational paddle activities. With a growing demand for active lifestyle style and outdoor activities, we hope our Cano Taxi will gain popularity not only as a cultural attraction and something cool to do in the city, but as an active transportation and an alternative to the ferry and water taxi, as well.
